If you're like me and looking for that mind escape, break, in the middle of your busy work day (writting articles for 3 hours at a stretch is common for me) then check out ACE Online. Once you play through the tutorial you will end up on your first planet, from here you can walk around and buy and trade equipment and many other things. Dog fighting is the real meat and potatoes of the game though, so if you like games that involve flying aircraft's then this is for you. Your craft can be highly customized, and that is really the fun part.So check it out, and again this is free so you can't beat it:
